Hey Friend,
I think I’ve found the sweet spot between working, delegating, building, and parenting. It feels very balanced (well, at least it does today). And since I’m feeling so confident of this balance, I thought I’d share what it looks like on my end.
Here’s works for my family, lifestyle, company, comfortability, and budget.
I finally hired another housekeeper. I’ve had a housekeeper come 2x a month ever since I started working, but COVID meant that needed to end. I should have hired someone months ago, but I was trying to do it all myself. That’s never a good approach to my life. As soon as I hired our new housekeeper a huge weight was lifted.
It’s amazing how much it helps having someone else do the deep cleaning. It’s a part of housework that I’m not good at, so I prioritize this in the budget.
My VA and I are starting to get into a good flow of work. She’s been with me for a few months, understands what we’re doing, what we’re trying to build, and is confident to take on more responsibility. We’re starting our first lead gen campaign that I’m going to let her create and run on her own. I’m very excited to start this initiative!
I’ve contracted out half of the interviews for our Best Buyer Persona projects. We have three persona projects going on this month. That’s at least 60 interviews in one months time. That’s a lot of interviews. The last time I ran 2 projects at the same time on my own it practically burned me out. I’m working with Ekaterina Howard, she’s an amazing interviewer with a very calm and straight forward style to interviewing, and having her help has been wonderful!
I’ve hired a nanny. It’s another aspect of life that ended with COVID and should have been brought back months ago, but I thought I could muscle through. To remind you, we have three kids ages 10, 8, 6 and we choose to home educate all of them. So all of my kids are here, all of the time. It can be a challenge making sure they are fed and progressing on school, while also building a business and managing clients.
Our nanny comes for 15 hours a week and makes sure the kid’s school work is completed, takes them to playdates, field trips, and the library. She breaks up the fights and keeps them entertained. This allows me to focus on work. To give myself the time required to think.
We’ve been spending our weekends on the farm.
There’s something about spending a lot of time outside amongst the trees that resets my adrenals and nerves. So far we’ve only mowed the orchard and burned a few old wood piles, but the time has been great. We’ve gotten poison ivy, chigger bites, and a few sunburns, but it somehow pales in comparison to how much we love being out there. We’re working our minds hard on the weekdays and then our bodies hard on the weekend. 10/10 would recommend.
I think those are all contributing to this feeling of balance I’ve had lately. I hope you can find your own balance in whatever ways fits your lifestyle and needs.
This is wonderfully written, thanks for sharing (:
